Simple Thank You card

This is just a simple card - but did you realize that it is one of the ones included free in the Banner Day SVGs that you get when you sign up for an account at Lettering Delights
I imported file 50, and changed the texture for the red to a dotted design and a different polka dot for the letters. I left everything else the same.

I just bought the Snow Pen (made by Marvy Uchida) at Archivers and just had to find a way to try it out. So I made small rivets on the tag. It is very easy - I applied, let it dry and then hit it with the heat embossing tool to puff it up. It worked! I colored the one on the cup with a Copic to match.
The card was really easy - they have done everything for you already - just import into MTC (colors come in as well), arrange and Print-n-Cut. Here's a look at my layout.
Give it a try - it's free so what have you to loose?

Two fer Tuesday - Distressed Fonts.

Need some creepy fonts for Halloween? Look no further.

Pumpkin lollipop treats

This is another idea that has been around for a while but I have adapted it to MTC. There is a post here on the MTC forum about it and Karen said she adapted it from SplitCoast Stampers. I altered it further, making it smaller (to fit a DumDum sucker), more ovoid, and with a different leaf.
The pumpkin shape itself is very easy to make in MTC, just follow these directions:
Here is what my layout looks like. I turned the design sideways to get more on a page.
I also filled it with Basic Tile 017 and adjusted the color like this:
This texture is from the Basic Tile collection from Lettering Delights - it is still on sale for $10 for 100 tiles - a great buy and an item I use a lot. Click here to purchase.

I actually printed a full page of this tile (I just filled a large rectangle with the texture in MTC and tiled it), then used it as regular paper, not PnC. I used the HP Presentation Paper (32#), a great weight for this type of project. The center of the circles were used as well - so save them!

The curly leaf design was purchased at the Silhouette Store, it is part of a pumpkin design.

I brought it into Silhouette Studio, filled it with a dark color and took a snip of it to use in MTC. I added a circle for the sucker and flipped some of them as well.  I printed these on the same HP Presentation Paper. Here is what my layout looked like:
I also did a background fill (essentially I print my own paper) with another Basic Tile for the leaves. Here are the settings.
Both the pumpkins and the leaves were cut to the Silhouette with the red cap at a force of 14.

For the larger leaf, I found an image here that I traced into MTC. Scroll down about halfway to "Math Mats" to find the shape. I just added a little stem with a circle in it in order to slide it over the sucker.
For assembly, I used 6 pumpkin shapes for each treat holder. Fold in half (right sides together), and glue half sides together. Place the sucker in just before you glue the final sections. I attached the cut-out circle from the pumpkins to the bottom for stability. Slip the leaves onto the sucker stick and you are finished!
For the larger tootsie roll pop treat holder (made card stock and with Karen's original instructions), I added brown paper shreds to simulate straw. I glued these to the circle before attaching to the pumpkin.

Since several components are purchased, I can only share what I made: the file for the ovoid pumpkin shape. I have my own polka dot design that I will include with it. You can access it here.

Two for Tuesday - Animal Cut-Its

I picked these up in the Cut-Its Bundle but if you did not, they are available now at a great price for a limited time. These are so versatile - good for vinyl on a nursery wall, for cards, so many ideas. Images are linked

Free Post-it-Note (pop-up) file

Well I went to Staples to pick up their brand of post-it-notes (Stickies) and found them sold out! And I am not surprised - they were on sale for 12 for $2. So I purchased the pop-up notes instead ($5 for 12) and decided that I needed to make a holder for them. So here is what I can up with:
I was able to get 2 holders on one sheet of paper, here's the layout.
I used small RE magnets to hold the holder closed.
I turned under the edge of the upper portion in order to reinforce the holder on either side of the slot opening, you can see it in this picture.

Friday Freebie at LD

Here's today's freebie, check it out!
This is similar to my "Ghosting" post.

Post-it note holder (free file)

These little holders have been around for a while but I did not have a MTC file for them. Stampin' Up demonstrators have several youtube vids about making them, so I thought I would give them a try -  they didn't look to hard.  I help out with a Sunday School class by bringing in simple crafts for the children to make and thought this would be a good one for them. So I set out to make the file in MTC so that all papers would  cut and scored and would only need to be assembled by the students.

Most instructions give dimensions and instructions for scoring but I have included these in the MTC file.  If you prefer to hand score, you can turn off the eye to the score layer and use the guides instead.

I actually used the guide notches and my MS scoring board to score the marks. You should be able to see the guide notches below.
(BTW, Micheals has a coupon this week for 50% off on MS scoring board, so you may want to pick one up if you don't already have one.)
I added a decorative highlight strip along the pen loop area. I like the extra pop of color! The fish holder shows the final position of the loop - most instructions have you make it about halfway down - which is what I did with the first ones (see B&W holder below). But with the small pens I used, I needed it to be closer to the top, so I moved it up some.
I cut these from Staples Photo Supreme matte double-sided paper (on sale this week - after rebate - for $1 for 50 sheets!) on the Silhouette with the red cap at 33, single cut. Here is what the layout looks like for the black holder.
I can get 2 holders with embellishments from one sheet of paper!  For the fish holder, there were more embellishments, here is how I laid them out:
The graphics for the fish holder are from Echo Park Splash Digital set.  The B&W design is from an Etsy vendor. I have included a polka texture for you in the file.
Some examples of the B&W holder.
I have some holders cut out in the polka dot texture, but I am saving them for the kids to assemble so you will just have to use your imagination! The file is avalable for download here.

Edited to add: There has been a complaint that I did not credit appropriately. This idea is NOT original to me but the file is my original design.  I used the dimensions from this video to design the file and Dawn's original video was posted in May 2008. As I said, this idea has been around a long time!

Sneak in some special buys...

Did you catch today's Lettering Delight's post on Facebook? They had a riddle and prize (yeah!) but for all they had specials. But they did not announce them, instead they included them as "hints" for the riddle. Sneaky! Check out what they have here (images are linked):

Happy Haunting to all!

(And on a sad note, I was sorry to hear of the passing of Steve Jobs. Although I do not own any Apple products, there is no doubt that an innovative thinker and entrepreneur walked among us for a time.)
