Simple Apple Craft for kids....thankfullness
It's been a while since I have blogged due to several reasons, out-of-town, internet down, school starting, etc. I am sure you have experienced some of these additional tasks as well. But I am back to crafting and hope to be blogging more again.
Since I help out at my church school with crafts, I am always on the look-out for crafts that the kids can do. Being in the fall mood, I saw this idea at Lettering Delights and knew I could use it to make a simple craft for them.
I didn't make nearly the amount of apple slices as they did but the idea is the same. I plan to use a loop of green yarn (or brown) for the stem, so that is yet to be added. But these will be simple to assemble and the child can complete each slice with an expression of thanks at home with their parents - a great way to foster thankfulness.
I printed mine on heavy white copy paper in B&W. This will allow the child to personalize the color as they desire before assembly. I debated whether or not they should cut them out, but these are younger children (and we have a limited time for crafts) so I went with the pre-cut version. We will just color, glue, and be done.
I used the apples from the Apple Barrel Set (which is on sale right now for just $2)for the apple shape, and made an inner shadow in MTC that I colored black. Then another thin inner shadow of the black shape to make the outline(filled with white). I added the words with Ariel Rounded font and wrapped to the black inner shadow. The layout looks like this.
I did a Print-n-Cut of the shapes and they were ready for crafting!
I am always on the look-out for fun and easy crafts (especially paper crafting), so drop me a line if you find any that you have tried that were easy for kids. I work with the 1st, 2nd & 3rd grades, so it has to be rather simple for them. And this year I have almost all boys (9 boys, 2 girls)- which makes it tougher for me since I gravitate toward more girl-oriented crafts.

Free SVG file: label 02
Remember these labels? I used them for my kitchen containers.
I also used them for organizing my craft room stuff, like this:
...and this:
Some of these are used with the Bistro Chalk markers (I lurve those things! - see the big container I have for them?) and some are cut into the label. I like that you can use it both ways. Most of these are Dollar Tree containers - I have about half of the lids painted black to match my decor (with Fusion Plastic Spray Paint). I picked up the boxes and tins (tins at 60% off) at Micheal's. The glass containers are from Hobby Lobby.
They were originally available only as MTC files but I have them available free as an SVG file for a short time (like the next few days) with this link. Enjoy! And I would love to see what you do with them!

Another freebie (with Wild Wednesday)
(The secret to more freebies like this freebie is getting more FB fans. So if you have not liked them yet, now is the time to do it.)
The Holiday Hop is still going on - they've added a new collection, Reindeer Games. And it's on sale too!

A freebie for you.
Manic Monday deal and a freebie!
The Vita Bella collection is on sale for reduced price for today (until Tuesday at midnight MST). When you check them out, the first graphic set you see will be the freebie - labels that coordinate with the Vita Bella Collection! They even come in 4 different colors.
(I am pretty sure the Vita Bella collection was retired last year and they are making it available for a time now at a special price. If you like it - it has a bit of an Italian flair to it - get it while you can at this low price!)
Free purse file (MTC file)
I made this file some time ago and have not taken the time to share it yet. I did make some of the purses but I do not have them currently - so sorry - no photo of that. I designed the square card in the upper right to be used inside the purse if needed. The flowers are of my making (from this post).
You can download the file free for the next few days from here. Enjoy! If you make one I would love to feature it on my blog.

Label 05 and variations - free MTC file
OK, I think this is the last one for a little bit. Lots of variations n this one, so try a layered label or a shadowed one.
You can download the free MTC file here for the next few weeks.
I guess there was some confusion bout the end date for the Stringbeans collection at LD - so they have extended it! Last day to purchase is today, at midnight MST.

Label 04 and variations (free MTC file)
Are you tired of labels yet? I hope not since I am still working on some, so there is a t least one more (#05) yet to come.
Quite a few variations here, you can even make a layered label, or nested labels. Like the previous labels these can be used with chalkboard vinyl or black contact paper with the Bistro markers. Or just as labels in either vinyl or paper. Enjoy! You can download the MTC file for free for the next few weeks from here.

Circle lattice designs
I designed these several weeks ago, I had originally intended to use them as mats. But I think they would also work as candle wraps or paper napkin rings.
The design is simple - just connected circles but it took me a while to get the pattern even. I used the duplicate feature to help with the spacing. It is almost a circle lattice.
The design started out this with a circle in the middle. It would be a nice vinyl stencil for etching but of course the circles fall out with paper. BTW, this is a pain in the patootie to get all those little pieces of leftover paper off you mat!
Her is what the candle wrap looks like.
You can download the lattice patterns here (free for the next few weeks).
