Free Label design (MTC file)

I saw this on pinterest and pinned it (image is linked if you want to check out the original post).
I wanted to make my own label (she used a Silhouette file) but I wanted it longer, not so square. So I used Basic shapes, joined, welded, stretched a little and came up with this in MTC.
A little tweaking turns those shapes into labels - just the right size and proportion!
I used the font Eurostile Extended (it was on my computer, not sure where it came from. It looks like you can get it from here) and make little breaks in it so that would cut in one piece. I cut these from black Contact paper and will be applying them to my canisters today.

If you would like this free file, you can download it here  - free for the next few weeks!

BTW, she has a link to a great place for vinyl sayings - check it out here for inspiration.

A card and Day 3 Freebie, EGG-stravaganza......

.....and a give-away!

So with the extravaganza, they also released the latest graphics - Slumber Party. They must be reading my mind - because this was another one that I needed just this week!. I have a little friend who is having a sleep-over for her Birthday Party this week.

I used the Slumber Party Graphic set, Slumber Party Talk, and Slumber Party Background Paper to make her birthday card.
Here's a look at my design layout.
And the layers page.
And the card base (this is the inside).
And the card itself.
I popped up the layers on the front with foam tape.
I will add a hand-written sentiment to the inside.
The freebie is a candy wrapper invitation - what a cute idea and what little girl would not want an invitation like that! Click here for the free Slumber Party Candy Bar Wrapper Invitation. Just add it to your cart -pay nothing!
Thanks to Lettering Delights for all their freebies, luv 'em! If you have FB, be sure to pop over (tell them Nelda sent you). After that, comment here that you did so and I will have a drawing for a $5 gift certificate for one lucky follower. All you have to do is 1) Be a follower of my blog, 2) Comment on LD's FB site that I sent you, and 3) leave a comment on this post saying you did so. Only one comment per person - duplicates will disqualify you (sorry). Drawing is open until Wednesday 12 noon EST - error - extended through Thursday noon EST.  Good luck!

(check back on Wednesday Friday to see the results of the drawing!)

Right as Rain....Get well card

Did you notice this month's Sneak Peek products?
These are just in time for spring cards and projects. I needed a get well card - and it was just what I needed.

I used the Graphic Set and brought in the rain shower (the first graphic in the set) by pixel trace, alpha setting/texture. I reduced it, shadowed it several times and made a card base using the shadowed shape. I had several layers for this card. Here is a peak at my design layout.
The texture for the red umbrella layer is one the papers in the Right as Rain Paper Pack. The boot and sentiment are also taken from the graphic set. I used LD Cotton Candy font for the sentiment. The colors are color-matched to the colors of the graphics so that everything was coordinated.
I added just a touch of bling with a clear Gelly Roll Stardust pen, accenting the raindrops and part of the cloud.
 Here is the final card.
And here is what the inside looks like.
I even popped up the tiny boot and flowers on the inside.

Remember, these are only available with a purchase and they are discounted this month. If you don't have a purchase to make, grab one of the EGGstravaganza freebies (or any freebie) and add these files to your cart.  You'll see them offered just before you agree to the terms of purchase.

EGGstravaganza Freebie - Day Two

Today's freebie is posted on another blog. There is a direct link but I feel strongly that I should not post it (the whole reason that it is on her blog is for her to get blog traffic). But I will post the link to Jin's post so that you can scroll down (the link for the freebie is at the very bottom).

Here is the picture of the freebies, a chick egg holder, cupcake holder, and gift card holder (the photo is from LD's FB post).
You can find the link at the bottom of this post on Jin's blog.

The Peep Squeakers are a delightfully cute bundle of animal shapes (each an egg holder, cupcake holder, and gift card holder), there is a panda, a chick, a lambie, a bunny, and others. Just perfect for Easter.

And as you can see, there is also a special on the Top 10 fonts from 2010.

Prepare yourself for 15 days of fun and specials. And a special code for additional savings!  For today, Day One, there is a freebie, and the new Sweet Peeps graphics and bundles by Sheri McCaulley are being released.

Circles within circles - fiddling around with a design.

I was playing around with a scalloped circle and designed this
and used it to make these designs. They can be used as border designs, a ribbon thread, or just a fun embellishment.
If you would like these designs, they can be downloaded for the next few weeks here.

Mad for Cards - one example of how to use these

I am sure you are aware of the Mad for Cards Super Bundle that is on special now at LD. Have you made any yet? If not, here is an idea of how I used one of them.

I used the png files for the cherish card. This card design (4" x 5 1/2") is perfect for pre-made cards that you can get at Hobby Lobby or Micheal's. Like these.
Beside being ready  to use (card and envelope), these card packages are also rather inexpensive (especially since these go on sale for 50% off regularly or you can use the 40% off coupon).
I brought main design into MTC as a texture, and reduced it to the 4 x 5.5" size. For the sentiment, I first took it into PSE to crop it, then imported it in MTC as texture/blackout, using the color option to select the outer blue color.
(BTW, if you take these into PSE, resize them to 300 dpi and they import at the correct size.)
Here is a screen shot of the card available in the bundle.
My layout in MTC looked like this (I can get the "fixin's" for 2 cards on one sheet of card stock). I did cut the main design just a little smaller so that it had a 1/8" border all the way around on the front.
And here is my rendition on the purchased card base. I printed this on regular (non-coated) paper and it looks more blue (32# paper cut at blade=2 and force=15). When printed on inkjet coated paper (like the Epson Presentation paper) it has more of a lavender tint to it (The Epson Presentation Paper 44# was cut through MTC to the Cameo with a blade setting of 2 and force of 29. I saved it for another card). I used a tape runner to adhere the design to the front then popped up the Cherish sentiment.
A simple "Thinking of you" is adhered directly to the inside of the card.
The card can be purchased separately for just 0.50 here, or in the bundle here. The pngs are included in the  bundle ($39) or the pngs only can be purchased in the Mad For Cards PNG Graphic Super Bundle. ($30). They have recently added a DVD - Mad For Cards Super Bundle - DVD - the files are sent to you on a DVD and you can download them as well. The sale has been extended until next Tuesday.
While at LD, you may want to check out the Wild Wednesday deal - these files are discounted.

Making an Owl...and a free Owl Swing/Flip card file

In one of the recent issues of Scrapbooking Magazine, instructions were provided on how to make a cute little owl from punches. There was a youtube video of it but of course I can't find it now! (If you happen to find it I would be happy to link to it).  Here is my rendition of it:
Here is the file for the card that we will be making.

And the completed card (compliments of Boogie).
But first the owl! Here is how I made the owl in MTC. For the body use the cylinder shape (in Basic
shapes) and stretch it to get a gently rounded bottom. Duplicate and stack until it looks tall enough. A few joins and Boolean joins later and you ave the body.
The wings are just a portion of the scalloped circle punch. I have this shape saved in my Basic Shapes already but here's how to make your own and also the wings.
The rest of the shapes are pretty easy - circles (for the eyes), an oval (for the tummy), inverted hearts (for the feet) and a triangle (for the nose. If you would like to try to make your own owl, I have a file with the pieces here (image below is linked).
If you do not want to make the owl yourself, I do have a file for you as well for the Swing card. Boogie made it up for me and has some wonderful photos to show it off!
You can download the file for the next 2 weeks here.
